Strong in their great defender,
And shed in freedom's cause their blood.

Still celebrate the glorious day,
When Heaven, in tender pity,
Drove all your fathers' foes away
And save the "Maiden City".
Still hoist' as in the days of old,
Your flag on yonder tower
Nor ever let it's Crimson fold
Be furled by priestly power.
